Version 6.0 of the PaperStream Capture Series(1) software for RICOH fi and SP Series image scanners is now available. This release delivers updates that improve integration with third party solutions, enhance post-scan quality control, and support more efficient day-to-day document capture.
PaperStream Capture Pro and Pro Premium already include a powerful release API that enables coders to develop new integrations into third party solutions. Our co-creation team can handle the development, if required.
|
PaperStream Capture Pro 6.0 expands integration capabilities by enhancing the available APIs with support for form OCR, enabling a new range of solutions for managing structured form data.
A new validation API enables captured data to be checked against a database, ensuring the accuracy of captured information.
In addition, this version introduces the easy-to-use “custom connector”, providing a simpler alternative for integration development that does not require coding. Connectors can be defined through configuration files rather than code, making the creation of digitisation workflows simpler than ever. |

A key feature of PaperStream Capture has always been its dedicated quality control (QC) menus, with six document views available, supplemented by the automatic image quality check feature, which highlights potential errors with coloured boxes.
PaperStream Capture 6.0 enhances quality control performance by providing clearer visibility and greater control over zonal OCR for fields on forms and documents. Users can define confidence level thresholds for individual fields, establishing measurable quality expectations for OCR results. This enables users to focus review efforts on lower-confidence fields, improving efficiency and accuracy.
Additionally, across all versions of PaperStream Capture, the QC window now provides clear visibility of processing progress and field status in a single view. This offers immediate insight into completion levels and OCR accuracy, allowing operators to quickly identify areas requiring attention and prioritise review efforts. |

PaperStream Capture 6.0 introduces several usability improvements to streamline routine document handling.
|
Integration with Microsoft Outlook adds a dedicated button to the Outlook ribbon, allowing users to send attached image files directly to PaperStream Capture Pro Premium with a single click. This enables faster and more consistent handling of documents received by email.
Additionally, the PaperStream Capture Pro Premium file import function has been enhanced to offer two routes for importing files.
The existing import function uses the PaperStream IP (TWAIN) driver to recreate the image, allowing different file types, from different locations to be converted into consistent and regular images – just as if they had been freshly scanned. |

|
But not every user wants to start from scratch. So, in PaperStream Capture Pro Premium 6.0 we have introduced an alternative approach. In this case we can import the original file directly into PaperStream Capture Pro Premium, minimising processing load and maintaining the original image file and metadata ready for downstream processing.
Envelope-based document separation has been enhanced to provide greater flexibility. The software can be configured for batch scanning where envelopes are scanned either before or after their contents, helping operators manage real-world mailroom workflows with less manual intervention. |
|
In addition to these features, overall software performance has been improved. In multi-station environments, background OCR processing at the storage station allows OCR results to be displayed as each page is recognised. Operators can begin verification without waiting for the entire batch to complete, enabling parallel processing and faster overall operation.
